Young children work constantly to become well-adapted humans of their time and place.  In these workshops, we will explore activities which comfortably connect young children to the realities of time, heritage and culture, while honoring diversity and the multicultural realities of contemporary society.

 

Session I:  Story - Time:  Exploring Time and History through Story and Language

Explore how simple language activities can introduce young children to clocks, calendars, and fascinating stories from human history.

An Oregon Registry workshop. Participants will received a 2 hour certificate.

 

Session II:  A sense of Place:  Experiencing Heritage and Ethnicity

Explore how innovative sensorial and geography extensions honor diversity and support tolerance, understanding, and appreciation for the richness of our human story.

Session III:  I Belong in my Time and Place:  From Universal Child to Cultural Human
Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Explore how experiences of music, art, and the sciences support each child's adaptation as a person of a particular time and place.

* This is an Oregon Registry program.  Participants will receive one certificate upon completion of Session III.  The certificate will reflect the number of hours completed by the participant within the series.  Certificates will be mailed to those not attending Session III. 

** Although this series is designed to build from one session to the next, participants are welcome to register for individual sessions.
