Bells & Tone Bars: Making Montessori Music Work

October 12 2013-October 13 2013, 9:00am-4:00pm each day
Weekend Seminar

Presented by Sarah Werner Andrews, AMI Director of Primary Training, Oregon Registry Master Trainer

This workshop is open to Primary and Elementary Teachers.  Sunday is optional for Primary Teachers.

Montessori considered music as part of a sacred heritage passed from generation to generation - a way for souls to communicate in ways that language alone could not touch.  In Montessori classrooms, we share this heritage through song, rhythm, and presentations with Bells and Tone Bars.  But for many teachers, these magical materials can be intimidating, and the full breadth of the possibilities they offer remains unexplored.

We invite you to discover - or rediscover - your passion for the Bells and Tone Bars in this engaging workshop with Sarah Werner Andrews.  Sarah's lifelong love of music, and her experience with both primary and elementary children, will be your guide as you explore music appreciation, rhythm activities and accessible presentations in musical notation, composition, and musical theory.  This workshop will help you connect the children more deeply to music, restore your confidence in presenting the Bells and Tone Bars, and enrich the musical life of your classroom.

Saturday, October 19:  Music appreciation, rhythm, notation and composition with the Bells.
Sunday, October 20:  Musical  notation, composition, musical theory continued with the Tone Bars.
